Linda explores idiosyncratic combinations for printing; trying out printing with threads, plastic milk containers and even bluetack. Handling the materials holds her attention and encourages her to experiment. It’s the playful, experimental aspects of printmaking that are the drive rather than working on editions. This results in many trials and errors on the way, some of which turn out to be the finished works.
Linda Owens was born in 1950, Edinburgh. While teacher training, she practised art with tutor, Archie D. McIntosh. Shifting from painting for a while, she tried etching - first in Glasgow then Edinburgh’s “safe etching” approach. She taught in community arts for Falkirk College for several years before retiring from teaching.
