SWIMWALKSaturday 16th June12.45-2.30pmSwimWalk is a mystery walk across Edinburgh. Participants don specially-printed blue swimming hats, walking through the city’s hustle and bustle whilst making swimming-inspired arm movements. This participatory performance piece links Union Street, the current home of Edinburgh Printmakers, with Union Canal, the organisation’s future home. Leaving from the former, SwimWalk will lead participants through the city, passing places that have historical connections to water, culminating in a spectacular finish at the Edinburgh Canalside Festival.SwimWalk was conceived by Imi Maufe, a Norwegian-based British artist whose current exhibition, Translating Travels, is being shown in our gallery space. To participate please book your ticket via Eventbrite below. Places are limited so book quickly!#SwimWalk
PHOTO-ETCHINGThis Saturday & Sunday10am-5.30pmLearn how to transform your photographs into etchings!Get to grips with photopolymer film, a special type of film sensitive to sunlight. Adhere the film to etching plates, expose it, develop it and then use it as an acid resist. The result? A photographic image etched onto a metal plate! The real advantage of this method is that your image can then be developed further with other etching methods – acrylic resist and drypoint, for example. You could even try using more photo etching! This allows for truly unique fusions of photography and etching, letting you combine all the best bits of etching with your photos. But hurry! The course is this weekend so book quickly. You can book through our website: https://bit.ly/2keE1G0. Alternatively ring our friendly front-of-house team on 0131 557 2479. See you soon!
