Aleksandra Kargul

Biography

Aleksandra Kargul is a Scotland-based artist and printmaker who represents the world she sees through the transformational quality of lithography and watercolours.

BIOGRAPHY

Aleksandra Kargul began her printmaking practice in Art High School in Poland where she specialised in etching. She came to Edinburgh in 2007 to study Interior Design and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 2012. After graduation she became co-director of a renovation business but continued to develop her artistic work through lithography, often on a commissioned basis.

In 2014 she joined the team of Edinburgh Printmakers as studio assistant for 10 months and learnt more about other printmaking techniques such as screenprinting, photogravure and cyanotype. She finally committed to stone lithography, and since 2015 she is constantly mastering her understanding of this fascinating process.

Aleksandra has been awarded with several Lithography Residencies in Eichstaett, Bavaria, and she has exhibited her work in Scotland and internationally. In 2016 Aleksandra became a stone lithography tutor at Edinburgh Printmakers where she taught Stone Lithography Evening Course for four years. In recent years, Aleksandra has been working on commissions for private and commercial clients.
