Biography

 

Gillian Mather explores new approaches to figurative art, combining simple figurative forms with elements of abstraction. She use simple colours and brushstrokes, avoiding inconsequential details, in order to focus on and to intensify emotion.

 

Gillian holds a DA in Drawing and Painting and a postgraduate scholarship in painting from Edinburgh College of Arts. She then received her MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London. She was awarded several scholarships and prizes in the UK and is a member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
