BIOGRAPHY
Christine Sloman’s art practice is based upon our relationship to
memory, place, and the passage of time.
Working primarily in etching, lithography, and monotype, she
approaches printmaking in a spirit of spontaneity and experimentation.
Her approach is informed by her background in paper conservation,
blending her technical expertise with an expressive approach to markmaking. With her collages and artist books the act of editing, layering,
and reassembling has evolved into an integral part of her practice. This
process speaks to her ongoing concern with how memory shifts and
transforms depending on context.
Christine is a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists and
is part of the artist collective bound : unbound. She has work in the
collections of Edinburgh Printmakers, The British Library, Pallant House
Gallery, The National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh University and the
National Galleries of Scotland
