  • Our new open-access print studio in Castle Mills was custom-built to provide quality, spacious printmaking facilities.

     

    We are committed to providing high-quality, low-cost printmaking facilities for artists.
     
    Our studio is fully equipped with extensive facilities and expertise in Etching, Screenprinting, Lithography, Relief, Large-format Inkjet printing, and Laser Cutting. The double-height open-plan light and airy studio is held in two large adjoining spaces and is an inviting, sociable place to work.
     
    Our skilled team of staff and freelancers work to support the running and maintenance of the open-access studio, deliver education courses, and work on print projects with invited artists and publishing partners.

    Access to the studio is through an annual membership scheme. 

     

    Artists can apply for annual membership once they have reached a level of printmaking competency, enabling them to work in the studio unsupervised. This is usually achieved by attending one or more printmaking courses or by taking an induction or refresher session. 


    Printmakers with experience

    Recent Graduates with printmaking experience
     

    If you graduated from a university in the last year and gained printmaking experience while there, please fill out the following form to avail yourself of our discounted membership and usage scheme. 


    New to printmaking
     

    If you are new to printmaking but keen to get access to the studio, please see our courses here. Taking part in a weekend or evening course entitles you to a free Associate Membership, which will give you access to the studio for three months after the course finishes. All other courses will take place in either the Print Studio or the Learning Studio.

    Session fees are not 
    included, and annual members must pay each time they use the studio, whether for preparation, drawing up or printing. Regular users will find it more economical to pay by monthly Direct Debit as membership and session fees are combined, allowing unlimited access throughout the year.

    Our Graduate Memberships are available to those who have graduated with an art degree within the past six months and have proven experience in printmaking within their degree.

    Studio sessions can be booked by Members via our Simplybook platform.

     

    Press Bookings (3hr30min): £9

    Includes: Screenprinting, Relief, Intaglio, Lithography and Laser Cutter

     

    Prep Area Bookings (1hr45min): £3.50

    Includes: Adobe Suite/iMac access, drawing up/carving tables, screen coating and UV exposure units, one intaglio proofing press and Acid/Aquatint areas.

     

    Top Up Hour (Any Area 1hr) £3.00

    Includes: Any/All areas

     

    Session fees cover inks and most sundry materials. Click here to see what materials are included. 

     

    The studio is open: 

    • Tuesday-Saturday, 10 am-5:30 pm
    • Evenings on Wednesdays and Thursdays until 9 pm.

     

    Access is by the main entrance via the shop, Wednesday-Sunday, 10-6 pm. For access on Tuesdays or evening access on Wednesdays or Thursdays, please use the side door, 2 Gilmore Park and ring the studio buzzer. 

  • Visiting Artists

    Visiting Artists

    Edinburgh Printmakers welcomes applications from visiting artists who wish to work in the studio for a limited period. Visiting artist rates include temporary membership and are by prior arrangement only. Please fill out the studio access form.

     

    VISITING ARTISTS' FEES 

    £130 per week 

    Includes an Induction Session followed by Studio Access and 

    General Materials like Inks, Sundries and Processing Chemicals.
