Transforming Unused Spaces into Vibrant Art Studios

EP Spaces is Edinburgh Printmakers' national network of affordable meanwhile spaces for artists and creative communities. We work with landlords across Scotland, bringing disused shops, offices, and retail units back to life with new purpose and vitality and creating buzzing creative spaces in the heart of towns and cities that can have limited workspaces for arts practitioners.

EP Spaces supports local communities, animating and transforming each location into a creative hub. We currently have spaces in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Glenrothes, Grangemouth, Falkirk, Motherwell, Dumfreis, Blantyre, Kilmarnock, Uddingston, and Paisley.

We welcome all artists, creative industries practitioners, collectives, performers, local festival partners, and arts/wellbeing charities to propose creative uses for our spaces.

With over 300 artists currently using EP Spaces in 10 different locations, we facilitate a wide range of artistic practices from painting and illustration to theatre and sound production. We encourage everyone with an interest in using a space for their work to get in touch.

The flexible nature of EP Spaces means that artists can make it their own - with most having the option of being public-facing, these are ideal not only for creative studio spaces, but for public exhibitions, community workshops, exchange of ideas, and performances.

"There isn't a space like this in Aberdeen. I struggled to work in my last space due to it being so small and extremely expensive" - EP Spaces Member.

Through the EP Spaces project we provide creative spaces to support the artistic community beyond our printmaking studio, facilitating low-cost studio spaces for artists at all stages of their journeys.

Our aim is to grow a community of artists across the country, allow artists to find a place to develop their work, and create meaningful connections to each other, their community, and the cultural ecosystem. These spaces also help to bring town centres back to life where empty shops and offices would be sitting otherwise.

The flexible nature of EP Spaces means that artists can make it their own - with most having the option of being public facing, these are ideal not only for creative studio spaces, but for public exhibitions, community workshops, exchange of ideas, and performances.
