    The Art of Printmaking International - Online

    This programme of online talks aims to build our relationships with similar printmaking studios around the worldInvited representatives of each studio, as well as artist members, students or collaborators will give a talk and introduce their organisation, work, projects and facilities to an international audience of creative printmakers.

     

    On Thursday 12th December 2024 we will be speaking with Kinngait Studios in Nunavut, Canada.

     

    The West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative in Kinngait (Cape Dorset) has earned a worldwide reputation for the quality and originality of limited edition prints made by its member artists. Every year since 1959, the printmaking studios (now known as Kinngait Studios) have released an annual catalogued collection of between 30 and 60 images as well as numerous commissions and special releases. Kinngait Studios is the longest continuously running print studio in Canada.

     

    The talk will be at 5pm GMT, and tickets are £5/£2 concession.

    Based in Kinngait, Nunavut, Quvianaqtuk Pudlat worked collaboratively with EP Head of Editions Alastair Clark to produce a printed lithograph for sale in Scotland and in Canada. 

     

    Kinngait Studios has earned an international reputation for the quality and originality of the limited edition prints made by their artists. Over the decades, the studio has developed programs for lithography, engraving, etching, and stonecut - a uniquely northern form of relief printmaking inspired by Japanese woodblock. Kinngait Studios is known as one of the pillars of contemporary Inuit art, and is the longest continuously-running printmaking studio in Canada.

  • Drop-in creative sessions

    Drop-in creative sessions

    As part of our project 900 Stories in Print, we are hosting free weekly creative workshops on Fridays (11am-1pm) for anyone to join.

     

    The relaxed events will vary week to week, and might include printmaking, cookery, storytelling, poetry, crafting, or other creative activities. Whether you're feeling in the mood for making or just want to meet people, come along and chat with us about your experiences of the local area, memories of its history, or hopes for its future. 

     

    • Friday 29 Nov, 11am-1pm – Crochet with our Gallery Assistant Larisa Hamilton
    • Friday 6 Dec, 11am-1pm - Pasta (print)making with Carla Smith

     

    All of the workshops will also include free lunch for all participants.

    No need to book - just come along for as long as you like and say hello!
