Jar in Action is a pop-up travelling display organised by FUSION: Art meets Science. FUSION is a collaborative group of artists and scientists who meet to explore ideas, share their research approaches, and generate shared outputs for exhibitions.
Sustainability issues touch our lives in many ways. FUSION is running a project where they asked a variety of people to construct artworks in the form of glass jars and their contents which encapsulate their creative response to the question, “what does sustainability mean to you?”. The jar artworks will also be used to aid in research and gain insight into perceptions around sustainability.
Through a series of workshops and an open call, over 90 jars were submitted. The pop-up exhibition tour began at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Leith Library, Fountainbridge Library, Craigmillar Library, Portobello Library, Edinburgh Central Library, and concludes here in Edinburgh Printmakers Courtyard.
