Biography

Lindy Furby joined Edinburgh Printmakers in June 2009 on an etching course led by Alphons Bytautas. She had learnt printing many years before at Teacher Training College but life – climbing, work and family - got in the way of further development. She has been a member of EP for over 13 years, and has spent more and more of her time engaged in printmaking.

She has been a lifelong lover of the outdoor landscape. She has climbed, walked, camped, skied up and down, kayaked and swam, engaging with and enjoying the landscape in physically active ways.

Her artwork is just a continuation of this, it is a part of her life. She engages with the landscape during this time by sitting still, looking, contemplating and finally mark-making - usually watercolour sketches. She finds this behaviour burns the landscape into her brain in a way that taking a photograph cannot.
