BIOGRAPHY

 

Ian McCulloch is a post-war painter, printmaker, sculptor and ceramicist and is recognised as one of the new Glasgow Boys. Born in Glasgow, he studied at The Glasgow School of Art 1953–7, and was awarded a RSA Travelling Scholarship. He gained Scottish Arts Council Awards in 1967 and 1972. McCulloch was artist-in-residence at the University of Sussex, 1976, and won First Prize at the Stirling Smith Biennale, 1985.

 

He was elected a member of SSA in 1964, and an associate of the RSA in 1989. McCulloch was commissioned to paint murals for the Italian Centre, Glasgow, 1989, and was winner of the Glasgow International Concert Hall Mural Competition, 1989–90.
