Scott Baxter
Scott Baxter (he/him) is an artist who explores queer identity, performativity and imagery where digital technologies are now an everyday part of identity creation. He responds to historical, and current, queer (in)visibility by subverting understandings of familiar social allegories to create altered contexts for queer realities and agency to exist. The work often depicts multiple temporalities of bodies in action, bodies in transition and the evanescent experiences of touch.
Scott’s current practice examines worship, totems and icons in relation to queer sexuality. He is working on an open-ended series of paintings, screenprints and sculptural objects that juxtapose queer expressions of sexuality with religious art methodologies.
