We are dismayed by the abrupt news from Creative Scotland this week of the cancellation of the Open Fund for Individuals. Artists are integral to Scotland’s cultural landscape. This fund is the lifeblood for Scotland based freelance artists and creative practitioners to develop their practice and share it with audiences. This shocking announcement has impacted on the wellbeing, and confidence across our community, jeopardising an already fragile ecology, and putting the livelihoods of artists at risk.
Edinburgh Printmakers supports freelance artists through residencies, exhibitions, and studio access across Scotland and internationally. We stand in solidarity with the artist community to call for the urgent reinstatement of this fund.
