Who is it for?
We are seeking to form a diverse group of 20 young people between the ages of 18 and 25 to participate in the programme. 10 will be based in India and 10 will be based in Scotland. The group will include University students and potentially some young people who have not yet had the opportunity to pursue academic education. Fellows will be selected based on their potential as future curators and leaders. They will be interested in art and design, printmaking, digital innovation, sustainability, and global equality.
Applicants should be interested in collaborating to research and discuss India and Scotland’s shared cultural heritage; process and understand it; and respond to it through the commissioning of new art works by established and emerging artists in India and Scotland.
You will also be interested in how a world community can work to co-engineer a more sustainable future. Selected Fellows will work together to commission, produce, and interpret artworks that offer new ideas and concepts to help us cherish and preserve our shared global environment for future generations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people wanting to enter a career in the visual arts, to build their experience, skills and networks, enhancing mainstream education with a ground-breaking professional practice programme designed to encourage new thinking, and new creative ideas through working with people from different places.
What will you do?
The programme will offer weekly 2-hour learning workshops from 31 May 2022 - 19 July 2022 and a 10-day summer school [4hrs a day] from 25 July - 5 August. All sessions will take place online. To accommodate participants in both countries, these sessions will take place in the AM BST and PM IST.
From September the group will be divided into task-oriented teams supported by mentors to deliver key components of the project including commissioning, production, communication, events, interpretation, and evaluation.
Fellows will support the install and deinstall of the exhibition in Ahmedabad and New Delhi as well as online events linked to the exhibition.
What will you get?
You will experience working as part of an international team and receive training and skills development including collaborative working, research, co-design and curation, partnership working and project management. Industry experts will support each step of the process, from research and conception through to the production and presentation of the exhibition.
The project will enable you to develop international cultural skills, grow your professional network, form new friendships across the world and enhance your CV to support your future career aspirations.
The programme may offer cultural skills badges and/or higher education credits.
