Kate Downie Print Launch: 'Hear the Wind Blow'
Join us on Thursday 25 September at 6:30pm to unveil a new print created by artist Kate Downie in collaboration with Edinburgh Printmakers Head of Editions Alastair Clark.
This new lithograph is based on a watercolour sketch Kate produced of the coastal edge of Fife at Tentsmuir. With this print and its broad, expressive marks, she hopes it communicates some of the sensations she sought to capture: feeling close to nature and the joy of a beach walk in a place of such vivacity and beauty.
This event will consist of a short reception the in cafe at Edinburgh Printmakers, before moving up to the studio for a conversation about the inspiration behind the print and the collaborative process of printmaking with Kate Downie and Alastair Clark. The print edition will be available for purchase through EP's shop.
This event is free, but booking is essential.
Kate Downie has worked extensively in printmaking since the late 1980s, regularly working with Edinburgh Printmakers. Downie's draftsmanship is exemplary, and has a strong sense of movement. Her subject matter is the panorama, often alluding to the continuation of image beyond the boundaries of the image-plane.
