Fondazione Il Bisonte
Il Bisonte is a Foundation that specialises in the study of graphic art, and a historic institution strongly rooted in the city of Florence and in the artistic traditions of the city.
Founded in 1959 by Maria Luigia Guaita, Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, and Enrico Vallecchi, Il Bisonte represents a unique institution in the field of graphic art at the national level and an artistic excellence recognised worldwide.
Among the artists who have been invited to produce lithographic editions in the print studio are Picasso, Carrà, Giò Pomodoro, Scanavino, Capogrossi, Moore, Calder, Arroyo, Matta, and many others.
The Foundation is spread between three buildings in the historical centre of Florence and consists of: an international school containing 5 technical printmaking studios, an art gallery, a specialised library, a historical archive, and an current archive of donations.
To this day, under the guidance of the president Simone Guaita, the Foundation Il Bisonte has amplified its offer and configured itself as a hub both cultural and creative, a generative space of creation and artistic production able to combine the historical technical mastery of printmaking with the most expressive contemporary art.
