At this poetry reading event, hosted by Edinburgh Printmakers in collaboration with the Scottish Poetry Library,  invited Young Makars will respond to the David Burnett Collection of wood engravings.

Edinburgh Printmakers is caring for the personal collection of wood engravings collected by artist poet David Burnett (1937-2023). Burnett collected over 2,500 prints with a specific interest in wood engraving technique from all over the world. This evening will be a chance to have a look at some of these prints as well as hear from poets inspired by his work and extensive print collection.

Each of the Young Makars (Participants taking part in the Scottish Poetry Library's talent development scheme for poetry writers aged 16 to 25 years) will choose one or more prints from the collection to respond to with a poem, which they'll read in this evening event.

After the poetry reading, the original David Burnett print and an associated print created by the poets will be displayed together alongside the poems.

The reading will commence at 6:30pm, and our café KUBA will be open beforehand for anyone wishing to purchase refreshments.
