Robert Powell Lunchtime Tours: Tour of ‘Hall of Hours’ exhibition with artist Robert Powell
As part of the public programming connected to our summer exhibitions, Robert Powell will deliver two lunchtime tours to share more about the magic, theory and practice behind the Hall of Hours exhibition.
Join us at 12pm on Friday 19th September or Friday 10th October for the opportunity to hear more about the incredibly detailed and monumental work of Hall of Hours directly from the artist himself!
Robert will lead two short tours of his show diving deeper into the many meanings and references present through his characters and ambiguous landscapes. He will share reflections and ideas which have led to the production of the Clock and his attempts at defining and visualising time.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear more about Robert printmaking process and intaglio expertise.
The tours will also include participation in the Bell Ringing Ceremony at 12pm.
Robert Powell's Hall of Hours is supported by New Media Scotland, and is a new body of work that expands on the themes contained within a previous work, Chronoscope, an animated clock originally created for the refurbished Music Hall in Aberdeen and supported by Aberdeen Performing Arts and New Media Scotland's Alt-w Fund with investment from Creative Scotland in 2022.
Learn more about the stories, reflections and literature related to the perception and visualisation of time, by listening to our recorded In Conversation Event with Robert Powell and Dr Alasdair Richmond, from the School of Philosophy at Edinburgh University.
