As a painter, Galante’s works are built up over a long period with a range of procedures and effects – thin veils, dripping, staining, dispersed pigment and varnishing. This approach continues in his printmaking practice, using the medium of lithograph to recreate the same fluid, painterly style and layering the ink in translucent washes of colour.

In this series organic forms of intertwined vines, flowers and geological features are set against a stark white background, reminiscent of a botanical study but rejecting precision and perfection in favour of a loose, expressive style.

There are three works available in this untitled series: Small, Medium and Large.

BIOGRAPHY

Renato Galante was born in Taranto, Italy in 1962, studied Economics at Luiss University, Rome and lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has worked as an artist since 1989.
