A photo etching produced from a travel photograph taken in Svalbard during 2018, in temperatures of minus 40. I worked at Castle Mills to produce this photo etching in 2019, and was delighted that it won a print-making award at the annual RSA exhibition later that year. I travelled to Svalbard to satisfy a long-term interest in the Arctic, and in particular the landscape of the ice-covered mountains, where the impact of climate change is seen in the annual melt happening earlier each year. The impact of this trip was such that I returned to Svalbard in early 2020, and have begun to work exclusively with the research material gathered in this remote landscape. it is through developing this material that I hope to be able to communicate some idea of the beauty of ice and its importance to our planet.
