This etching is based on a drawing from the John Knox house on the Royal Mile. I like the way the light is reflected in the paving stones so it stands out as the brightest aspect of the composition.
I am interested in what etching can do with light and like the way you can create a unique a atmosphere with the process. I have been a member of the workshop for about 30 years and have always returned to etching after flirting with lithography and screen printing. I like the way you can get a texture as the damp paper is pressed over the plate; it gives every image a real punch!
