Early this year I began experimenting with the collagraph printing process alongside using other materials such as carborundum to build a printing matrix. Collagraph often utilises found materials, paper, card, and materials to create texture which are glued to a surface from which the prints are made. I find this process appealing as it allows for a fairly speedy and spontaneous approach to creating the printing plate. This unique print is composed of arranged pieces of tape resulting in an austere image with the pattern of the texture of the material showing through. It creates an almost architectural form and its worn surface hints at an ambiguity of meaning which I seek to create in the work.
