Victoria Filimonova
Image size: 14.5 x 18cm
Filimonova's print uses symmetrical patterns of a brain stem to create a relaxing, medatative image.
"I like the middle shapes you get with mandalas - the colouring and the painting that's done by hand, and you can use it for meditation. So it basically stops your thoughts coming, and you can use it for self-realisation."
The image itself, taking by Filimonova who is also a photographer, is a composite of a single print developed in the dark room. It's from a different project that considers how neuroscience can be used to understand different regions in Scotland from a historical and political perspective.
"This series is called 'Dancer' as you can see different things, but I see a dancer in the trees. It's definitely something you can look at for a while."
This print is part of Edinburgh Printmakers Members Print Exchange 2026.
