Biography

BIOGRAPHY

Cat Outram is a printmaker-artist who has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland since coming here as a child in 1966. She was born in Kenya where her family had settled in the early 1900’s.

She joined Edinburgh Printmakers in 1981, the summer after she graduated from Edinburgh College of Art where she had completed the Drawing & Painting BA Honours course. In 1990 she joined the Enterprise Allowance Scheme which enabled her at the end of the year to become an independent, professional printmaker. Since then she has exhibited in craft fairs, small gallery shops and open exhibitions across Scotland.

She is mainly an etcher on metal plate but has explored collagraph as an interesting alternative. Her subject matter includes: landscape, cityscapes, still-lives and flower/plant studies. She responds to light and shadow, to texture and pattern. She likes finding beauty in ordinary things.
