Jane Raven

Jane Raven uses the printmaking process called Toyobo (or photopolymer gravure). This is a non-toxic photopolymer technique that exposes photographic images onto a plate with a photosensitive layer. This plate is then hardened on the exposure unit, and can then be inked up and printed on the press - much like an etching plate. All the prints that Jane makes are taken from photographs taken by her over the last 2 years. During the printing process she sometimes uses Chine Colle - where an image is printed onto a very light, delicate paper that is then adhered to the stronger supporting paper - the effect is similar to that when using collage.

All of Jane’s prints are signed, titled and stamped with her logo. The ones that say UP mean they are unique prints - the only one like this to exist. Those that say AP are available in limited editions and will all have an edition number on them.
