Laura Gressani works mostly as a printmaker, initially using monoprinting, but also screenprinting and more recently etching. Printmaking encourages her to focus on the essential qualities of her subject matter which encompasses a wide range of interests from cityscapes to flowers and trees, mountains and water. She tends to work in series, focusing on a particular subject and drawing inspiration from its close observation through sketching, using printmaking to try and capture what made her look in the first place.
