Stephen first became interested in screen printing as a teenager when studying for his A-levels. He was lucky enough to have a very enthusiastic art teacher and, with access to some basic screen printing facilities, he was hooked. During his career as a book cover designer, he had the opportunity to commission several screenprint artists, and even had the occasional chance to get his hands dirty and create his own prints. Being a designer at heart, his print work usually has a very graphic feel, and he loves the use of bold colour and strong shape that is possible in screen printing. Since moving to Scotland a few years ago, he has discovered Edinburgh Printmakers and re-ignited his excitement and passion for printmaking.
