Fiona Hunter

Fiona Hunter currently works primarily in screenprinting. Shapes within nature are a constant source of inspiration for her, and many of her art works demonstrate her fascination and love of the natural world. Fiona also explores a personal reflection of the lived human experience, with some of her more expressive work. In all her creations she enjoys working with colour, line, shapes and form. The compositions become visual poetry, usually including intricate drawn details, while overall striving for simplicity and a balance of form.  

The experience of creation is equally as important to Fiona as the outcome of the final prints. Echoes of actions remain and are held within the lines leaving a sense that the work exists in a space of becoming. The screenprinting process in particular provides Fiona with the opportunity to combine sometimes quite disparate styles of drawing and mark making, and even the smallest overlooked marks are elevated through the process of printing. She feels the transformative power of working with the printing press to bring her imagery to life.
