Masha Tiplady
BIOGRAPHY
Masha Tiplady SWE is an Edinburgh-based wood engraver and linocut artist. She creates intricate prints, where the tonal values and textures are achieved by experimenting with various mark-making.
Masha’s recent work focuses on the beauty of the natural world, with particular attention to the tiny, often overlooked details. Inspired by the landscape of Edinburgh's Southside, she tries to capture the elegance of nature’s smallest forms and to reveal the complexity of the natural world through intricate prints.
In addition to nature, Masha draws heavily from mythology, world folklore, and storytelling.
Masha is an elected member of The Society of Wood Engravers and a founding member of Printmakers of Scotland. She’s also an active member of Edinburgh Printmakers studios, where she continues to learn and develop various printmaking techniques.
Masha teaches a variety of linocut and wood engraving workshops across the UK.
