Biography

BIOGRAPHY

In my visual artworks especially I tend to explore identity and connection. I believe that art is vital in developing empathy and tolerance by investigating diverse viewpoints and creatively developing possibilities. I work mainly with cyanotypes on various fabrics and paintings, with subjects ranging from sexual identity to close-ups of flowers in my garden.

At the moment I am working on a series of cyanotypes and paintings based on close-up photographs of plants in my garden. For years my world has been this small, and I wanted to explore and share the beauty and wonder of a simple bramble flower or nasturtium, grown in a tiny urban garden in Leith.

I have exhibited in the ING Discerning Eye, the Scottish Portrait Awards, Edinburgh Printmakers, and the Scottish National Gallery, among many others.
