Lindsay Hutchison
After studying Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art I went on to work in art galleries, retail, as a ceramics technician and art facilitator.
Recently I rediscovered printmaking through attending short courses at EP, and a year long programme at Leith School of Art.
What I enjoy most about printmaking is being immersed in the process. There is so much scope for experimenting and learning new techniques, with each suggesting new approaches to making images. I have worked in monoprint, relief, collagraph and most recently screen print.
My recent screen prints started with photographs I have taken of people, objects, and places which I have a personal connection with. I combined hand painted elements with these photographic images and layered colour to create a mood and enhance the image.
Making prints is a chance for me to express myself, think things through visually, and reflect.
