Biography
BIOGRAPHY
Mark Elvins is an artist and lino printmaker based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. He takes his inspiration from the natural features of the Scottish Highlands, the Lake District and Yorkshire, reinterpreting familiar landscapes into strong graphic forms using strikingly dramatic contemporary colour treatments.
Mark graduated from Cambridge School of Art in 2018 with an MA (distinction) and since then has become a regular fixture amongst its amazing array of printing presses.
In 2019 Mark won English Heritage’s national competition to design large-scale ceiling voiles illustrating aspects of the history of Whitby, which now hang in their refurbished visitor centre at Whitby Abbey.
Mark is a member of Edinburgh Printmakers and whenever possible combines his studio time printing there with forays into the endlessly giving wilds around Glencoe, Ben Nevis and the mountain scenery of the West Coast of Scotland.
