Morven Ferguson
BIOGRAPHY
Morven Ferguson (b. 1998) is an Edinburgh based printmaker inspired by the Scottish landscape. She graduated with a Fine Art (BA Hons) degree from Duncan of Jordanstone College of art and design, Dundee in 2021. Morven further pursued her studies at DJCAD where she achieved a Masters in Fine Art and graduated with a distinction in 2022. Since then Morven became a member of Edinburgh Printmakers where she continues to develop her art practice and currently has her artwork shown within commercial galleries in Edinburgh. Alongside Morven’s art practice she has started teaching art classes and printmaking workshops at an independent art studio local to her in Edinburgh.
Her work evokes contrasts in light and dark, suggesting the ever-changing atmosphere of the landscape. Morven is constantly drawn towards the sea, particularly coastal rock formations and locations such as Arbroath and East Lothian have inspired her. She explores the interplay between digital and traditional printmaking techniques within her work. Morven’s process involves laser engraving a rasterized image onto laser plywood for relief printing. She enjoys working between both contemporary and traditional printmaking approaches, embracing elements of advanced technology as well as the physical process of printmaking.
