Curious about the potential of visual narratives, Kim Minuti trained in screen-printed textiles and surface pattern design. Working as a freelance textile designer in London before time in arts education, she has come full circle and is now based in Edinburgh, becoming a member of the vibrant printmaking community at Edinburgh Printmakers as well as working from her home studio. Minuti’s work seeks to make visual sense of the places that surround and shape us, as seen through a printmaking lens. Ash seeds and stems scattered on the ground, outlining edges and cracks are collected and used directly through the etching press, or as positives in the exposure to the screen. Her practice is organic and instinctive, with ideas explored and expanded through the physicality of the printmaking processes and their interplay with each other. Chance becomes a vital element and outcomes may be poetic as well as playful. She has exhibited and demonstrated at The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, member shows at Edinburgh Printmaker's and is a new member of Visual Arts Scotland.
