Dilys Rose
BIOGRAPHY
Dilys Rose was born and brought up in Glasgow but has lived in Edinburgh for many years. She is a novelist, short story writer and poet who has published twelve books, most recently Sea Fret (May 2022).
She has an abiding interest in the visual arts, and artworks have often informed her writing. For example, for the gallery catalogue accompanying painter Moyna Flannigan’s exhibition Once upon our time; new portrait miniatures (National Portrait Gallery of Scotland, 2004), she created a series of complementary fictional cameos (National Galleries of Scotland publications, 2004).
Since giving up the day job — running a postgraduate programme in creative writing — she divides her days between words and images, and granny duty. She has taken part in two group shows in Edinburgh with the collective Nak.Ed.Art and, in September 2021, had an online exhibition of figure drawings and abstract collage, Waiting, Waiting, hosted by Edinburgh Palette: https://www.edinburghpalette.co.uk/events-2/exhibitions/waiting-waiting.
In recent years she has become particularly absorbed by printmaking and its many challenges and possibilities.
