Nicola Rook

BIOGRAPHY

Nicola Rook is an Artist, Printmaker and Energy Healer.

Nicola was born in Fife, Scotland in 1979. She attended Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design and graduated in 2002 with BDES (Hons) in Illustration and Printmaking.

Nicola’s work explores the relationship between the realms of mystery and the sacredness in all living things. Between a waking and dream state sentient beings, often in the form of wild animals appear, bringing with them gifts of magic, story and symbolism.

They are part of her visual language and as the creative process unfurls, she brings their energy to life, capturing them in the sacred environments they inhabit.

Nicola’s silkscreen prints combine the use of photographic image, highly detailed drawing and expressive mark making. This amalgamation is a reflection of the aesthetic union between the inspiration she finds in Mother Nature and the poetry of her imagination. Each print is hand-pulled by Nicola and as each layer of colour is printed, the spirit of the artwork comes alive. The love for her craft is then sealed with embellishment, as she delicately places genuine gold or silver leaf and diamond dust onto each print.
