Paul Kirkham
"Having encountered screenprinting, I am currently exploring this rich and fascinating medium. "
"I enjoy delving into the many possibilities afforded by the process and particularly like to introduce a mix of stark flat colour with a more textured appearance. The inspiration for the texture can come from both nature and manufactured objects."
BIOGRAPHY
Paul Kirkham has no formal training in art. For over 30 years he worked in the corporate world and in parallel indulged his passion for the arts with frequent visits to galleries and exhibitions to study the work of others.
Quite by chance he encountered screenprinting at Edinburgh Printmakers and immediately became fascinated by this versatile medium. Following instruction in the studio, he began using the facilities to produce screenprints of his own.
Influenced by the images from many trips over the years to the Isle of Mull in the month of September, he captured some of those images in his series of original limited edition screenprints entitled "September on and around the Isle of Mull". His screenprints feature landscapes and seascapes with an almost photographic style.
After an absence of some 10 years from the screenprinting world, Paul is once again working in this medium.
