Since early 2022, I’ve been working on a couple of themes, the war in Ukraine and separately the relationship between nature, environment and humanity. 
 
My recent work is a response to the war in Ukraine. I have repurposed the Greek myths of the Labyrinth, the Minotaur and Ariadne to explore my response to the war. These stories and characters provided me with a way of thinking about the impacts of war, abuse of power and the displacement of people. One of the first images that I created was the Minotaur who seemed to symbolise mindless violence and abuse of power. His head has been constructed from the ruins of city he has destroyed and his body bears the tattoo of the labyrinth (symbolising  never-ending violence) and is marked by the scars made by the ruination of the city. Other images such as Peace and chaos, show Ariadne, turned in hope for peace.
 
The recurring image of a rose in the images symbolises peace, and the persistence of nature and humanity. In the the image Peace Rose, the rose contains armed soldiers and in Cloud Rose, the rose grows in front of an atom bomb cloud. The image Rose of Tears, shows a dying rose, weeping to symbolise human suffering. 
All images have been created with drawing and photographic construction and are polymer photogravure and some are a variable edition with a la poupee/monoprint.
