Will Maclean
BIOGRAPHY
Will Maclean MBE is a Scottish artist from Inverness born into a family of fishermen. After spending time at sea, he studied at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 1961-65m and then the British School at Rome.
Maclean was commissioned by the Scottish InternationL Education Trust to study rin-net herring fishing, which resulted in over 400 drawings and a touring exhibition of his work.
Maclean's work has won awards such as the Scottish Natural Heritage Supreme Award, Civit Trust Award, Scottish Arts Council Creative Scotland Award, and an honorary doctorate by the University of St Andrews. In 2005 he was awarded an MBE for services to Education and the Arts.
Maclean has exhibited work in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Longon, Dundee, Isle of Lewis, USA and Canada with his work in collections across the world.
