Join us for a talk by Canadian artist Alexandra Haeseker, to celebrate her stunning new solo exhibition ‘The Botanist’s Daughter’.
This is a vibrant installation of new contemporary print works animating Gallery 1 at Castle Mills, and drawing inspiration from botanical and entomological themes. Haeseker's imagery explores our relationships with other living beings that share the same environment
Haeseker was Head of Printmaking and Professor Emeritus at Alberta University of the Arts for three decades from 1973 to 2003. Haeseker has produced commissions for The Calgary International Airport, Canada / Shanghai Art Museum, China / Edmonton Arts Council, Canada and Douro International Biennial in Portugal.
Recent projects include "Rebellious: Alberta Women Artists in the 1980's" for The Art Gallery of Alberta AGA in Canada 2019 / The IAPA Invitational, Taoxichuan Art Museum, Jingdezhen China 2018 / National Cultural Centre, Warsaw Poland 2018 / Shaanxi Art Museum, Xi'an, China 2017.
This talk will be a small intimate event, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Places are limited.
