This course covers the use of Photec as an acid resist. Photec is a photopolymer film that can be adhered to a metal plate, exposed to a positive artwork on acetate, and developed in such a way that it can produce accurate photographic acid resist. This then allows a photographic image to be etched into a copper plate. The real advantage of this is that the photographic image, once bitten into the surface of the plate can be further worked into using other etching techniques. For this reason, previous etching experience is helpful but not compulsory.
