Ceyda Oskay

Cork Printmakers / Residency, 30 Nov 2022

During her residency at Cork Printmakers, her work evolved intuitively through gathering her personal experiences in Ireland, as well as research, responding to coincidences and being in a certain receptive state.

She created an inprovisational music performance with migrant youth from Ireland's National Music Education Programme - Music Generation,  at Meitheal Mara Teoranta - a community boatyard on the River Lee in Cork City.

Ceyda also delivered six workshops on cyanotype with Corck City Learning Support Services.

Residency Dates: 1st-30th November 2022

Ceyda Oskay graduated from the Public Sphere, Contemporary Art Practice pathway of the Royal College of Art and University of Chicago. She has recently exhibited work at the Liverpool Alternates Biennial, Istanbul Biennial Worlblom room, Royal Academy Summer Show, Mid-Wales Art Center, among others.

Much of her work utilizes textiles in the form of installation which is then documented in video-based performances after which a fashion collection (through her brand custom clothing by co) is created.

Her work is often about migration, and both a researched and intuitive a response to place, people and situation. As migrants often take clothes or textiles with them, and as textiles are often used to complete a home, and due to clothes being an art form that is circulated and used, she makes clothing. With cc by co, she does individual consultations and healing work and garments through the textiles she dyes, prints, embroiders and designs into clothing.
